Danielle Baker

Owner of SpaceFlow Yoga, your local Real Estate Agent and Property Manager with RE/MAX Tehachapi, Inc. and oh - don’t forget a proud mom! I wear a lot of hats but I love to be busy. I am a Tier 1 300 hour certified Baptiste Teacher and a certified Kids Yoga instructor. I’ve been practicing for 15+ years and teaching “officially” since 2017. I came to this practice to cope with anxiety, challenge myself and learn to connect - like truly connect with my body instead of hate it. I love teaching and sharing this practice! I believe there is a type of yoga for any one and any body. I opened SpaceFlow to be that space - a home for everyone and every type of yoga.

Fun Fact(s): I hate milk chocolate. I am also a Pescatarian, that’s after years of eating pounds of bacon, and tons of hamburger helper (that was my mom’s jam!) Why? I learned I really HATE the texture of meat - even some fish are too “meaty”. Call me weird but to each their own as I always say!

Fun fact?
After graduating from High School in Huntington Beach, I landed a job working for the largest independently owned Lumber Company in Southern California, Reliable Wholesale Lumber Company.
I worked there for 20 years selling lumber! Timbers to be exact.
I wore many hats - Inside sales, assistant to the purchaser, assistant operations manager, and outside sales handling all the Home Depot accounts in So Cal.

I was one of the only girls working in the lumber industry at the time.

A true trailblazer!

My yoga journey began in 2000 with an Introduction to Yoga class where I fell in love with the practice. After a couple years I felt the need to go deeper which led me to teacher training. At first I had no intention of teaching only wanted to explore the different layers of the practice as I was experiencing big changes not only in my body but my way of being in the world. Over the course of these trainings I discovered the true depth and benefits of yoga and felt a strong desire to share this with others. I teach an Ashtanga inspired power flow, focused on increasing student’s strength and stamina through creative and ever-changing sequences. My teaching style focuses on enhancing alignment and understanding of the postures. My goal is to create a safe, fun and challenging environment for students to grow their practice both on and off the mat. I love seeing and hearing about the shifts that students experience in their practice and that I am able to be a part of that change. I am grateful for all of the amazing teachers I have been fortunate enough to learn and practice with and that my “job” is something I am so passionate about. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to travel and teach in India and Italy. My personal practice consists of asana 4-5 days per week as well as daily meditation and prayer. When I’m not teaching or practicing I love hiking and backpacking and spending time with my daughter and granddaughters.

I was a Zumba student for 10 years before I decided to become an instructor.  I loved that it wasn't your typical workout, and I was happier and more confident when I was taking Zumba.  After a fellow student asked me if I was an instructor and told me I should be, I got certified in May 2019.  Now I hope to help others smile and feel confident while burning calories dancing to Latin-inspired music, as well as several other rhythms.

Fun fact: I'm also an artist at Gallery N' Gifts in Tehachapi! The local nature and wildlife inspires most of my drawings, paintings, and wood burned pieces.

Stephanie Hirsch

Hi! I’m Stephanie and I’m so looking forward to connecting with you on your mats! I received my 200-hr. teaching certification from Yandara Yoga Institute in Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin yoga and am excited to return for yet another course next month to further my education in Yin and Restorative yoga. While there, I also trained and obtained my certificate as a Level 1 Reiki practitioner. While still relatively new to teaching, my journey to yoga began more than 20 years ago and my practice has evolved and has meant different things to me throughout the ever-changing phases of my life. It first began when I was about 8 years old as a fun way to spend time with my mom. In my teens and twenties it became simply a way to get some exercise and stay active. However, now in my 30s, my practice has evolved once again and my mat has become my safe haven—a place to come to face my inner challenges, breathe deeply and mindfully, and lovingly move in order to find my calm. I truly believe that yoga gives us all the opportunity to get to know ourselves a little better and to learn to cultivate peace, tranquility, love, and acceptance for ourselves and others. The word Yoga means Union. It’s the oneness and balance of body, mind, and spirit that allows us to experience harmony and peace. Can’t wait to practice with you!

Fun fact: My other great passion is traveling and learning languages! I’ve been lucky in my life to have had the opportunity to travel to more than 20 countries and I even got to live abroad for several years in both Italy and Spain.

Melissa Nixon

Hi I’m Melissa Nixon. My love for yoga started when I took it as a PE class in college. Five years ago I had the opportunity to get my yoga teacher certification. I completed my in person portion of my training 7.5 months pregnant! I love the connection I feel spiritually when I am on the mat and the ability to let everything go and show up exactly as I am. I love hatha, slow flow, gentle and power. I can not wait to connect with you on the mat.

Fun Fact: I speak Portuguese, paint, and weld - really anything I can do as a creative outlet.

500 E-RYT, RPYT, YACEP, Primal Flow Master Trainer, owner of Body of Light Yoga School

I was born and raised in Southern California, currently raising my two wild boys with my husband here in Tehachapi. I currently offer yoga classes, teacher trainings, special events, retreats and one-on-one mentorships - both in person and online.

For years, I struggled with insecurities around body image and self doubt. Disconnected from my body entirely with no concept of mind-body connection, I was in the darkness of unknowing.

The physical practice of yoga first taught me awareness. Awareness of breath and body, of thoughts and emotions. Eventually, this guided me to a continuous exploration of who I am and a rediscovery of my highest self. Yoga helped me to find strength and resilience from the inside out.

My intention for teaching yoga is to help people discover the incredible natural healing abilities of the human body, find deep inner healing and become illuminated to the spark of the Divine that exists within all of us.

It is a blessing to hold space and to share the gifts of what I have learned through this journey. It is an honor to get to connect with others who seek to know the light within.

Divine alignment, baby!

XO
